For the first time in his professional career, forward Fedor Svechkov has been called up to the NHL. He joins the Nashville Predators following their five-game road trip.
Head coach Andrew Brunette confirmed that the 21-year-old Russian centerman would make his debut against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night.
“I think he’s been probably the best player [in Milwaukee], at least my eyes tell me that,” Brunette said.
“He’s got a lot of speed through the middle of the ice, big centerman, he can distribute a little bit, so I think he fits some of the needs we’re looking for right now. We’ll see, we’ve let him marinate a little bit. We’d like him to keep playing, but we have to find some solutions here.”
Svechkov is the second player from the Predators 2021 draft class to join the team this season.
Forward Zach L’Heureux was the other earlier this season, albeit he’s played in 15 games to this point since being recalled.
Both forwards were Nashville’s first-round picks in 2021 & have a chance to establish themselves with the organization on the largest stage.
In Svechkov’s last four games with the Milwaukee Admirals, he’s worn a bubble with his helmet after taking a puck to the nose back on Oct. 26 against the Chicago Wolves.
He played the following week against the Manitoba Moose then missed two games on Nov. 9-10 due to swelling.
Last season Svechkov posted 39 points in 57 games then popped off in the postseason as well garnering 12 points in 15 contests. Undoubtedly one of the Admirals Stalwarts on offense for head coach Karl Taylor since joining the team.
Tune in for the action tonight as Svechkov makes his debut against the Winnipeg Jets. Pete Weber & Jay More have the call right here on 102.5 The Game.
