Cal’s Alekna, 21, sets world record in discus throw

Mykolas Alekna of Lithuania — a 21-year-old junior at Cal who is a two-time medal winner at the world outdoor championships — broke a world record in the discus throw that had stood since 1986 on Sunday at the Oklahoma Throws Series competition.
